Feed Management:

Llamas and alpacas can be aggressive eaters which can lead to choke. A few management suggestions:

• Provide ample feed space for each animal. This could mean individual buckets/troughs for each animal.

• Placing large stones in the bottom of troughs can increase feeding time. This allows for slower intake and better chewing.

• For llamas, consider raising the troughs off of the ground. However, for alpacas, leaving them on the ground may be a better method.

• Nutri Source is provided in a size to encourage proper chewing and hopefully reduce any problems.
