Carbohydrates
Green plants contain simple carbohydrates such as sucrose and fructose and complex forms like cellulose and other fiber components. More complex carbohydrates, such as starch, come from grains. Selecting the right form of carbohydrate can have a positive impact on animal health. Fructose is preferred since it does not lead to diabetes and helps maintain healthy teeth and gums by not fermenting in the mouth

Fats
Animal fat cells are a dense energy form containing 99 percent fat as volume. Fats insulate animals against cold weather and are a reserve source of energy. To prevent animals from becoming obese, amounts and sources of fat should be carefully monitored.

Fatty Acids
Fat cells contain glycerides of fatty acids that form phospholipids and cholesterol–two components of cell membranes that maintain the integrity between blood cells and membranes. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids, commonly found in fish oils, positively affect liver function, improve metabolism, reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems and enhance skin tone and texture in mini pigs and other animals.

Linolenic Acid
An essential fat found in oils extracted from plants that makes up the chemical messengers in the body that regulate blood vessels and other body functions. It can lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, reduce pain, relieve swelling, promote healing and build lean tissue.
